Meet our speakers
In partnership with Irish Aid, EIT Climate-KIC is currently working with local stakeholders to establish a climate adaptation innovation cluster in Tanzania, focusing on building the resilience of Tanzania’s agriculture and forestry sectors and rural communities more broadly. Innovation Clusters act as collaborative platforms, uniting stakeholders, such as businesses, universities, citizens, investors, governmental agencies and charities, to foster collaboration and drive the development of innovative solutions. They not only help to generate new ideas, solutions and jobs, but also investment in the local economy. Innovation clusters are most effective when targeted at a specific sector, value chain, thematic area (e.g. adaptation & resilience) and/or population group.

EIT Climate-KIC aims to support innovation through building an inclusive ecosystem, connecting innovation solutions to demand and promoting a fertile policy and institutional environment for innovation to flourish. The programme works in conjunction with other complementary Climate-KIC programmes in Tanzania, such as ClimateLaunchpad, the WINnERS project, and the Climate Smart Forest Economy Programme (CSFEP), deepening our impact in the country.
Purpose of session:
-Describe the need for a collaborative approach to innovation to address climate adaptation challenges
-Raise awareness of the innovation clusters programme
-Give a voice to the diverse stakeholders involved in a cluster
-Onboard potential partners to the initiative
