EIT Climate KIC
EIT Climate-KIC is Europe’s largest public-private innovation partnership focused on climate change, consisting of dynamic companies, the best academic institutions, and the public sector. At the heart of EIT Climate-KIC’s mission is to catalyse systemic change through innovation in the areas of human activity that have a critical impact on greenhouse gas emissions – cities, land use, materials and finance – and to create climate-resilient communities.
EIT Climate KIC is developing an Adaptation Innovation Cluster in Tanzania where it engages local stakeholders (existing partners, accelerators, NGOs, government ministries, international donors, consultancies, research institutions, and entrepreneurs) to understand the innovation ecosystem in Tanzania, the current government priorities, and the greatest areas of need regarding climate adaptation and building resilience. The focus of the programme is on building a portfolio of programmes to support and catalyse innovation for the agriculture, land use and forestry sectors, critical to addressing high levels of food insecurity and malnutrition across the country. The programme works in conjunction with other complementary EIT Climate-KIC programmes in Tanzania, such as ClimateLaunchpad, the WINnERS project and the Climate Smart Forest Economy Programme (CSFEP).
Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland (Irish Aid)
Irish Aid is the Government of Ireland’s official international development aid programme. Since 2019, Ireland has been supporting climate innovation and entrepreneurship in partnership with EIT Climate-KIC, focusing on supporting the development of solutions that are locally driven and in line with key thematic priorities, such as adaptation and resilience, sustainable blue economy, and gender equality. In Tanzania, Irish Aid has supported the ClimateLaunchpad competition since 2019, and in 2022 expanded support to the gender mainstreaming for entrepreneurship programme and Adaptation Innovation Cluster.
Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE)
Aspen network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) serves as a catalyst in the SGB space, driving the conversation and pushing for the importance of SGBs in contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs or global goals). While SGBs are relevant to all of the global goals, Aspen network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) believes that SGBs can make a particularly significant contribution to addressing three target areas. Working alongside our members, Aspen network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) catalyzes new approaches and scale existing efforts of SGB intermediaries that are fostering SGBs that embrace gender equality, climate and environmental action, and decent work and economic growth.
